Fishing is the first hobby you unlock in Heartopia and one of the most rewarding activities in the entire game. With 94+ fish species spread across 14 fishing zones, mastering fishing requires knowledge of locations, weather patterns, time windows, and shadow reading. This comprehensive guide covers everything from basic casting to catching the rarest 5-star specimens.
Fishing Basics
To fish, equip your rod and cast your line into any fishing zone. A shadow will appear in the water representing an approaching fish. Shadow sizes correspond to species: Small shadows (size 1) indicate common small fish, Medium shadows (size 3) are mid-tier catches, Large shadows (size 5) are rare fish, and XL shadows (size 6) are the most valuable. Wait for the bite indicator, then reel in at the right moment for the best quality.
Star quality ranges from 1 to 5 and dramatically affects sell price. The multipliers are: 1-star = base price, 2-star = 1.5x, 3-star = 2x, 4-star = 4x, 5-star = 5x. For a Bluefin Tuna with an 850G base price, a 5-star catch is worth 4,250G. Higher fishing skill levels improve your chances of catching better quality fish.
Best Fishing Locations
Suburban Lake is the most versatile fishing spot, hosting species from Level 1 through Level 9 including the valuable Northern Pike (610G). For ocean fishing, Whale Sea offers Bluefin Tuna (850G, Rainbow weather) and Swordfish (850G), while the Sea Fishing Party exclusive zone features Golden King Crab (850G) and Ocean Sunfish (850G). Forest Lake is excellent for mid-level freshwater species, and Onsen Mountain Lake hosts the rare Arctic Char at Level 10.
Rainbow Weather Strategy
Rainbow weather is the rarest and most valuable weather condition for fishing. Many of the highest-value species, including Bluefin Tuna, Swordfish, Golden King Crab, Arctic Char, and European Eel, only appear during Rainbow weather. When you see Rainbow weather, drop everything else and head to your highest-level fishing zone. These windows are the single best Gold-earning opportunities in the game.
Mermaid Attractor Fish
Three species require the Mermaid Attractor bait: Edible Frog (Level 3), Tilapia (Level 3), and Rabbit Fish (Level 4). The Attractor is a special bait item that must be deployed before these species will appear. Make sure to bring Attractors when fishing in zones where these species spawn, as they cannot be caught with a standard rod.
