Old Sea
ocean
Old Sea is a weathered, mysterious ocean fishing zone in the Fishing Village region of Heartopia. Its name evokes the ancient, deep waters that hold some of the game's most unusual and challenging catches. Darker and more atmospheric than Zephyr Sea, Old Sea has a sense of history and depth that appeals to players who enjoy the adventure side of fishing. The zone's waters are home to peculiar and dangerous species, including the infamous Pufferfish and the fearsome Shortfin Mako Shark, making every cast feel like it could yield something extraordinary.
Fish Species and Unique Catches
Old Sea features a species roster that emphasizes the exotic and the rare. Pufferfish appears at Fishing Level 6, a distinctive catch that adds character to any player's Fish Observation collection. The European Eel is a Level 7 Rainbow-weather exclusive, requiring both skill and favorable conditions to land. At the top of Old Sea's offerings sits the Shortfin Mako Shark at Fishing Level 10, one of the most impressive catches in all of Heartopia. Landing a Mako Shark is a badge of honor among the fishing community, and its substantial sell price makes it well worth the effort required to reach maximum fishing level.
Fishing Conditions
Old Sea rewards patient, high-level anglers who are willing to dedicate time to understanding its rhythms. The European Eel requires Rainbow weather, adding an element of unpredictability that makes successful catches feel earned. The Pufferfish at Level 6 provides a mid-game goal for players progressing through the ocean zones, while the Shortfin Mako Shark at Level 10 serves as an endgame challenge. Time of day also affects which species appear, so varying your visit times helps fill out the collection more quickly.
To fish Old Sea effectively, aim to have at least Fishing Level 6 before making dedicated trips here. The Pufferfish is your first major milestone in this zone, and catching one provides a satisfying sense of progress. Monitor weather forecasts for Rainbow conditions to target the European Eel at Level 7, and save your most focused sessions for Level 10 Shortfin Mako Shark attempts. Old Sea pairs naturally with East Sea for rotation fishing, as both zones reward higher-level players and offer distinct species that do not overlap. Keep plenty of bait stocked from Bill's shop in the Fishing Village Square to avoid cutting sessions short.
