Onsen Mountain is a rugged, elevated region defined by its natural hot springs, crater formations, and sweeping ridgeline views. Steam rises from the onsen pools scattered across the mountainside, creating an atmospheric landscape that feels both ancient and serene. The terrain is more vertical than other regions, with stone cliffs, ruins, and elevated vantage points that offer panoramic views of Heartopia below.
Fishing and Wildlife
Onsen Mountain Lake is a high-altitude fishing spot with a unique roster of species. Ruffe (Level 3) appear during afternoon and dusk, Tadpoles (Level 4) surface in the rain, and Mottled Sculpin (Level 7) favor rainy conditions. The ultimate prize here is the Arctic Char (Level 10), which only appears during Rainbow weather, making those rare weather windows extremely valuable for high-level anglers.
The Capybara wild animal resides along the NW ridgeline, enjoying Tomatoes, Grapes, and Raspberries. Eric, a local resident, lives in the area and becomes more involved during winter events. The mountain's stone cliffs and ruins are prime territory for insect catching, with Mediterranean Mantis (Level 4), Conehead Mantis (Level 9), and the mighty Hercules Beetle (Level 10) all calling this region home.
Birdwatching Paradise
Onsen Mountain is one of the richest birdwatching regions in the game. The Great Tit and Bearded Reedling are common sights, but dedicated photographers can also spot the Lady Amherst's Pheasant at the ruins, the Peregrine Falcon near the onsen pools, and the Long-eared Owl perched on the stone cliff. The crater lake area attracts Four-Spotted Ladybugs and offers unique photographic opportunities with dramatic volcanic backdrops.
