Novice Angler

The Novice Angler achievement is one of the first fishing milestones available in Heartopia. To earn this badge, players must catch 10 different fish species from any of the game's 14 fishing zones. This introductory achievement encourages new anglers to explore multiple bodies of water, including rivers, lakes, and ocean spots, and to experiment with different bait types and casting techniques.

This achievement is tied directly to the Fishing hobby, which becomes available at D.G. Level 1. Players who focus on visiting Vanya's fishing spot early in the game will find that the first 10 species come relatively quickly, especially when fishing in areas with high species variety like the Central River or Sunrise Beach. Using basic bait is sufficient for common species, so there is no need to invest in rare lures at this stage.

For players looking to progress efficiently, try fishing during different weather conditions and times of day, as some species only appear under specific circumstances. Completing Novice Angler is just the beginning of a larger fishing progression that includes Expert Angler (50 species) and the ultimate Master Angler achievement, which requires catching every fish in the game. This achievement also contributes points toward the Fish Observation collection badge tiers.
