D.G. Level 1 is the starting Designer Grade in Heartopia, awarded to every new player as they begin their journey in this charming life-simulation world. This foundational level unlocks 2 home plots for decorating and building, along with the essential Work Bench and basic tools that form the backbone of all crafting and daily activities. Most importantly, D.G. Level 1 grants access to the Fishing hobby through mentor Vanya, who waits at the riverside dock in Central Town ready to teach the fundamentals of casting, shadow reading, and reeling.

What Unlocks at Level 1

The Fishing hobby is the first and most significant unlock at D.G. Level 1. Vanya introduces players to a system that spans 94+ fish species across 14 fishing zones, covering rivers, lakes, and oceans throughout Heartopia. With the basic fishing rod, players can immediately begin catching species at the Shallow River and Tranquil River in Central Town. Common Barbel and European Perch at the Shallow River, along with Minnow at the Tranquil River, are available from Fishing Level 1. The Work Bench allows players to craft basic items and tools, establishing the crafting loop that supports all other hobbies and activities. Two home plots provide space for initial home customization.

Strategic Tips for Level 1

At D.G. Level 1, focus on learning the fishing mechanics thoroughly. Spend time at the Shallow River and Tranquil River to build fishing experience and earn Gold from selling catches. Pay attention to fish shadow sizes, as larger shadows indicate rarer and more valuable fish. Experiment with different times of day (Dawn, Morning, Afternoon, Dusk) to discover which species appear in each window. The Gold you earn from early fishing will fund seed purchases once Gardening unlocks at Level 2, so building a financial cushion now pays dividends later.

D.G. Level 1 is also the time to explore Central Town and familiarize yourself with the map layout. Visit Town Hall to understand the D.G. Medal system, locate the bus stop for future region travel, and meet the NPCs who will become important as you progress. Every D.G.
