Hybridization Basics

Flower hybridization is one of Heartopia's deepest systems. By cross-pollinating flowers, you can produce hybrid colors that are unavailable through normal growing. This requires Gardening Level 3 or higher.

Base Colors and Hybrids

Every flower species starts with three base colors: Red, White, and Yellow. Cross-pollinating these bases produces hybrid colors.

Known hybrid colors include:

• Pink: Red + White cross
• Orange: Red + Yellow cross
• Cream: White + Yellow cross
• Coral: Varies by species
• Blue: Rare hybrid, often requires specific multi-generation crosses
• Green: Rare hybrid from specific parent combinations
• Black: Very rare, typically requires advanced breeding chains
• Selene (Glowing): The rarest variant, requiring precise breeding sequences

Flowers unlock progressively with gardening level:

• Level 3: Daisy
• Level 4: Pansy
• Level 5: Laceleaf, Corn Poppy
• Level 6: Calla Lily, Morning Glory
• Level 7: Carnation

• Level 11: Hyacinth

Breeding Strategy

1. Start with base-color flowers planted adjacent to each other
1. Harvest seeds from cross-pollinated plants
1. Plant hybrid offspring next to other hybrids for advanced combinations
1. Track your results to identify successful breeding pairs
1. Be patient: rare colors like Blue, Black, and Selene may require multiple generations
