Apprentice Chef is a beginner-level cooking achievement in Heartopia, unlocked by cooking 10 different recipes. This achievement introduces players to the Cooking hobby and encourages experimentation with the wide variety of ingredients available throughout the game. Cooking is one of the most rewarding hobbies in Heartopia, as dishes can be sold for Gold, gifted to NPCs to build friendship, or consumed for temporary buffs.

The Cooking hobby becomes available early in the game, and players can learn recipes from the NPC chef Massimo. Starting recipes require simple ingredients like crops, fruits, and basic seasonings that are easy to gather. Each recipe has a quality rating from 1 to 5 stars, and experimenting with ingredient quality affects the final dish. The first 10 recipes are all accessible at low cooking levels, making this an approachable early achievement.

To earn Apprentice Chef efficiently, focus on purchasing recipe scrolls from Massimo whenever new ones become available, and keep a stock of common ingredients like wheat, eggs, and butter. Cooking also pairs well with the Gardening hobby, since growing your own ingredients saves Gold. This achievement leads into the Master Chef achievement, which requires cooking every recipe in the game, and contributes to progress in the Gourmet Life collection.
