D.G. Level 12 is one of the most beloved milestones in all of Heartopia, simultaneously unlocking the Cat Care and Dog Care hobbies taught by the warmhearted Mrs. Joan. With 7 home plots available, players now have room to welcome furry companions into their homes. The pet hobbies introduce a nurturing, relationship-focused gameplay layer that transforms the Home Area from a functional space into a living, breathing environment filled with playful cats and loyal dogs. For many players, Level 12 represents the moment when Heartopia truly feels like home.

Cat Care and Dog Care

Both pet hobbies unlock through Mrs. Joan at her Pet Adoption Center on Garden Street. Cat Care offers 14 breeds, including Siamese, Orange Tabby, Calico, and Tuxedo Cat, while Dog Care features 11 breeds across Small (Corgi, Shiba Inu), Medium (Beagle, Golden Retriever, Labrador), and Large (Poodle, Rottweiler, Shepherd Dog) size categories. Each adoption costs 500G, and every pet receives 2 random personality traits from a pool of 11 options including Clingy, Energetic, Quiet, and Sociable. Building bond with pets through daily feeding, petting, and play sessions progresses their bond level from 1 to 10, unlocking new interactions and behaviors at each stage.

Mrs. Joan and the Adoption Center

Mrs. Joan is one of Heartopia's most endearing NPCs, operating the Pet Adoption Center from approximately 8AM to 8PM daily. She sells pet supplies, treats, and guidance on care routines. Building friendship with Mrs. Joan through gifts of Pet Treats, Rare Pet Items, Animal Photos, Yarn Balls, and Seafood Bouquets may unlock tips on optimal trait combinations. She dislikes receiving Trash and Scary Items. The adoption center is a place you will visit frequently as you build your pet collection toward the Kitty Time (14 cats) and Doggie Time (11 dogs) completion goals.
