Learn to Fish

Learn to Fish is a main story tutorial quest in Heartopia that introduces the Fishing hobby. Available at D.G. Level 1, this quest has three objectives: visit Vanya at the fishing spot, catch your first fish, and return to Vanya. The quest teaches the fundamental fishing mechanics including casting, waiting for a bite, and reeling in a catch. It is one of the earliest quests players can complete after the introductory Welcome to Heartopia quest.

Rewards for Learn to Fish include 200 Gold and 10 Contribution Medals. More importantly, completing this quest permanently unlocks the Fishing hobby, grants the player their first fishing rod, and triggers the First Catch achievement. The Fishing hobby becomes one of the most versatile activities in the game, providing income through fish sales, ingredients for cooking recipes, and entries for the Fish Observation collection.

To complete this quest efficiently, simply follow the waypoint to Vanya and cast your line at the designated spot. Any fish will count for the objective, so there is no need to worry about bait or technique at this stage. After returning to Vanya, the full fishing system opens up with access to multiple zones and species. This quest connects to the broader fishing progression chain that includes the Novice Angler, Expert Angler, and Master Angler achievements. It is also a prerequisite for many fishing-related Daily Requests.
