The 7 Core Hobbies

Heartopia has 7 core hobbies (plus seasonal Snow Sculpting). You cannot unlock them all immediately; instead, you earn Hobby Expansion Tickets at specific D.G. levels and must choose which hobbies to prioritize.

Hobby Unlock Timeline

Each Hobby Analyzed

Fishing (Auto Level 1)

Your gateway hobby. Great for Gold (high-level fish are very valuable) and provides ingredients for Cooking. 94+ species across 14 fishing zones.

Gardening (Auto Level 2)

Essential passive income. Crops grow in real time, so you earn Gold while doing other activities. Also provides cooking ingredients and access to flower hybridization.

Cooking (Ticket Required)

The best Gold-earning hobby by far. High-level recipes sell for thousands of Gold. Synergizes with both Fishing and Gardening for ingredients. Recommended as your first ticket pick at Level 5.

Insect Catching (Ticket Required)

Collection-focused hobby with 69-76 species. Less profitable than Cooking or Fishing, but essential for completionists and achievement hunters.

Birdwatching (Ticket Required)

Photography-based hobby with 68+ species. Relaxing and exploration-driven. Good for players who enjoy discovering new areas and completing collections.

Cat Care and Dog Care (Auto Level 12)

Social hobbies focused on bonding with pets. 25 total breeds to adopt. Less about earning Gold and more about the cozy pet ownership experience.

For Gold Maximizers

  1. Fishing (auto) + Gardening (auto)
  2. Cooking (first ticket at Level 5)
  3. Remaining hobbies in any order

For Completionists

  1. Fishing (auto) + Gardening (auto)
  2. Insect Catching or Birdwatching (first ticket at Level 5, to start collecting early)
  3. Cooking (second ticket)
  4. Remaining collection hobby (third ticket)

For Casual Players

Pick whatever sounds most fun. All hobbies are viable, and you will eventually unlock them all. There is no wrong choice, only different timelines.
